The Roccella Summer School is a dynamic short course on International Law held biennially since 2021 in Roccella Jonica, on the eastern coast of Calabria, Italy. The event aims at creating an accessible and inclusive space for people from all backgrounds to engage with and contribute to conversations on the role of international law for the peaceful coexistence and the thriving of humanity. With its engaged community, hospitable character and authentic beauty, Roccella offers an inspiring setting for reflecting on the possibilities of a more humane international legal order.
Organised by Raffaella Nigro (University Magna Græcia of Catanzaro) and Emma Luce Scali (University of Manchester), the School is funded by the University Magna Græcia of Catanzaro, its Department of Law, Economics and Sociology (DIGES) and the DIGES Research Centre ‘Autonomie Territoriali Europee’ and has received the support of the Department of Law at the University of Manchester and the Municipality of Roccella Jonica.
This year, the School is organised in collaboration with the Global Law and Political Economy Summer Academy.

The Summer School takes place in two exceptional historical locations in Roccella: the Palazzo Carafa and its beautiful Chiesa Matrice and the former Convento dei Minimi di San Francesco da Paola.
This is an in-person only event.
